Day 2, Feb. 18, 2010
Arriving to the HOLY LAND
On arrival, clear customs and immigration. Meeting by our representative followed by transfer to your hotel. Overnight: Jerusalem x 4 nights [D]
Day 3, Feb. 19, 2010
Jerusalem
Begin your day at the Mount of Olives visiting the Church of the Ascension and the Church of Pater Noster. Enjoy the magnificent panorama of the Old City from the lookout and then walk down to the Franciscan church of Dominus Flevit. Continue to the Church of All Nations in the Garden of Gethsemane. Proceed to Bethlehem, Shepherd’s Fields and the Church of the Nativity. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and over night.(BD)
Day 4, Feb. 20 , 2010
Jerusalem
Enter the walled city and walk through the newly restored Jewish Quarter. Visit the Roman Cardo, Herodian Quarter and continue to the Western Wall. Visit the Church of St. Anne and the Pool of Bethsaida, where Jesus healed the paralytic man, Walk along the Via Dolorosa and the Via Dolorosa, Stations of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepluchre. End the day with a communion service in the Garden Tomb (Gordon’s Calvary). [BD]
Day 5, Feb. 21, 2010
Jerusalem
Today, visit the Tomb of King David and Room of the Last Supper on Mt. Zion and Dormition Abbey, the spot where the Virgin Mary fell into her eternal sleep. Depart the area of the old city and drive to the Israel Museum, site of the miniature re creation of Jerusalem as it was during the time of the 2nd Temple and home of the Shrine of the Book, where many of the Dead Sea Scrolls are on display. Day 6, Feb. 22, 2010
Jerusalem/Galilee
Following your full Israeli breakfast at the hotel, check out and depart towards the Galilee, stopping first at Yad Vashem, memorial to the Holocaust. Tour the Children’s Memorial, the hall of Remembrance and the Museum. Drive south along the shore of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, to Massada, the last stronghold of the Jews after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 A.D. Ascend Mt. Massada by cablecar and visit the food storeroom, water irrigation system and Herod’s Palace. Later enjoy a “float” in the mineral rich waters of the Dead Sea before continuing north to the Galilee. Overnight: Tiberias x 3 nights. [BD]
Day 7, Feb. 23, 2010
Galilee
Today, visit Capernaum, centre of Jesus’ Ministry. Located here are the ruins of an ancient synagogue and the site of Peter’s House. Visit Tabgha and Mount of Beatitudes. Visit the Church of the Primacy of St Peter where Jesus ended his ministry. Drive along the Golan Heights descending at the south end of the Sea of Galilee and Yardenit, the traditional Baptismal site at the Jordan River. End the day at the Tamar B’Kfar farm and learn of the history and family who came from Russia 100 years ago to establish a date farm and time for free tasting of the various types of dates grown in the Galilee. Day 8, Feb. 24, 2010
Galilee
Proceed to Nazareth, where Jesus spent his early years, visit Mary’s Well and the Church of the Annunciation. En route, stop in Cana, site of the “wedding miracle” where Jesus turned water to wine. End the touring day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. (BD)
Day 9 Feb. 25, 2010
Galilee / Tel Aviv
Check out this morning and proceed to Mount Tabor. Ascend the narrow winding mountain road by taxis. Time to pray at the Church of the Transfiguration and enjoy the beautiful far reaching landscapes below. Drive towards Tel Aviv and the ancient port of Jaffa; see the house of Simon the Tanner and free time to visit the artists quarter. Enjoy a farewell dinner before your transfer to the airport for security clearance and flight check in. (BD)
